We’ve been in Roswell Provisions many times, and have even enjoyed dessert there as part of a date, but never quite realized that there is also a French Bistro.
The doorway is right in the center of the building, highlighted in red, white and blue.
Up the stairs you go, to a large and quaint main room, a few other rooms, a bar, and a balcony with choice seating on a warm November afternoon.
It has that comfortable country farm house look.
As you might expect, the menu is full of the classics.
It all looks so fantastic that it’s difficult to choose. My lunch date, JoAnn, picks the Clafoutis Provencal with the tomato bisque soup.
The clafoutis is like a quiche without the pastry shell, it has egg and goat cheese and zucchini. It turns out she has had this dish before and liked it so much the first time that she ordered it again.
JoAnn skips the pastry, but I go all in on pastry with my lunch choice. It’s the Bouche a la Reine, with French Onion soup.
And I think that means giant pastry puff filled with chicken and mushrooms and topped with rich, creamy béchamel. If you aren’t counting calories, I highly recommend this dish. It’s fantastic. The pastry is very light, delicate and flaky. Here is a closer look at what is on the inside.
Although the food is very good, we have a bizarre experience with our server today. We both feel like she must be having the worst day of her life (personally) because we are having a hard time getting a beverage and she is obviously incredibly distracted. So much so that after we have eaten and our plates have been cleared she thinks we haven’t been served our food yet and she double checks what we ordered. Before we can intervene she puts our order into the kitchen again and then tries to deliver it to the people sitting behind us. We end up feeling bad because she is so out of sorts. I hope everything worked out for her, and I feel like this won’t stop me from coming back to enjoy Le Bistro on another occasion.
